Tottenham Hotspur – Harry Kane = FA Cup Semifinalist.
Tottenham Hotspur has sealed the emphatic win over Swansea City to book their spot in the semi-final of the FA Cup after defeating them 0-3 at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. Tottenham Hotspur who were playing without their top goal-scorer Harry Kane didn’t miss him much as Eriksen (11’, 62’) and Lamela (45+1’) wrapped up the show for The Lilywhites.
It didn’t take much time for the Spurs to open their account as they found the goal by Eriksen’s mercy at the 11th minute. Lamela played a through ball to the Danish international Eriksen who ran down the flank with a bolting speed before shooting a curler away from 20 yards to bulge the ball back into the net.
Lamela, Eriksen, and Moura kept opposition’s defenders sweating as they constantly ran down the flank and entered the penalty box but Son came out of nowhere and smashed the ball to the top left corner from outside the box but the sideline referee flagged up to deny the goal.
At the half-hour mark, Spurs came close to scoring the second goal when Lamela crossed the ball from the left flank but Moura couldn’t make a touch to the ball as the ball went away.
At the 45th minute, Lamela ran down the left side and made his way in without been challenged by any Swansea’s defender before busting his shot to the bottom right corner to give an impeccable lead to the visitors.
After the end of first half, Spurs moves out of the field with a lead of two goals over The Swans. Score-line is 0-2 after 45 minutes of play.
After the inception of the second half, Swansea almost found their way back in the 46th minute when Martin Olsson’s thunderbolt from 25 yards away was saved astoundingly by former Swansea custodian Michel Vorm but the ball fell for Tammy Abraham. Abraham’s header was again saved by Vorm and the latter made a double save to deny any scoring chance.
When it was seeming that The Swans can make a comeback into the game Christian Eriksen scored the third goal for his side at the 62nd minute. Dier passed the ball to Moura, Moura laid the ball for the Danish international and Eriksen fired the ball into the bottom left corner to disappoint the home team’s supporters.
The very next minute, Moura – Eriksen’s paired up again. Lamela squared the ball to Moura, Moura instead of going for the glory passed the ball to Eriksen but the latter’s shot was saved by Nordfeldt.
After that Spurs managed to break into the box but couldn’t find the back of the net. Spurs kept the Swans at their own half as they kept on bombarding shots one after the other and not allowed the Swansea’s frontline to develop a chance.
