Match No. 77 Of Hero Indian Super League saw the defending champion ATK taking on the Mumbai City FC on Vivekananda Yuba Bharti Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday.

Mumbai found themselves more fortunate as they emerged victorious over Kolkata with the scoreline held at 2-1 at the blow of whistle. Marco Rozario and Rafa Jorda scored for the islanders as Bipin Singh’s equalizer could not save the host from the thumping loss. Kolkata’s winless drought has now stretched to six matches, and Mumbai is still in hunt for the playoffs berth as they are still having three matches to decide their fortune.

Marcio Rozario (32th minute) and Rafa Jorda(53th minute) both of them making their first time wonder in ISL. Bipin Singh’s(47th minute) equalizer was like a silver lining in sky as Kolkata side provided MCFC a new lease of life.

Islanders are now having 20 points from 15 matches, whereas defending champion are in bottom half of the table with only 13 points from 15 matches played as they are now winless for their last six games. Mumbai are still having 9 points to grab as they still can make a cut to playoffs berth.

After an sluggish start to the game, Rozario brought the game to life with a spectacular freekick goal at the half-hour mark to give Mumbai City FC the lead in Kolkata.

Bipin Singh then equalised for Ashley Westwood’s side early in the second half but the visitors regained their lead minutes later through Rafa Jorda.

ATK dominated the early exchanges in the game but Anwar Ali’s needless push on Rafa Jorda on the edge of his own box provided Rozario the opportunity to have a strike on goal, and he punished ATK for it. The midfielder curled the ball into the top right-hand corner of the goal despite goalkeeper Soram Poirie’s best diving effort.

Islanders defended well till the half time clock as they didn’t concede in the first half and returned to the shed with high spirits. But it wasn’t too late as the hosts striked in the early minutes to get back into the game as the Bipin Singh’s goal came as an equalizer in the 47th minute. The goal came after a spell of good play by ATK in the opposition half.

When the spirits of the Mumbai was running low and they were playing there all out to be back into game, the game showed it’s true colors as in the 52nd Minute corner from the left side was partially been cleared by Ashley’s defence. Snaju Pradhan put the ball back into the danger zone and Rafa Jorda on other side placed the ball neatly into the far corner of the post as Soram Poirie was helpless in that situation.

In the dying minutes of the game ATK were giving there all to come back into game as they were seriously missing the service of the Irish captain Robbie Keane and Prabir Das. Ryan Taylor almost disappointed the whole hood with a free kick that came of the bar.
