HERO I-League: Minerva Punjab 1-0 Churchill Brothers FC Goa.
Minerva Punjab FC made their history by turning into the primary group from North India to win the League title that crowned to get the gem of Indian Football. They got their win by the lone goal scored by William to beat Churchill Brothers today. The main point in this league is that the two relegation teams have won consecutive I-league titles. Last year Aizawal got their title, but this time Punjab secured their name in the book of I-League.
Punjab had their main half extremely well. A Trio game played by Chencho, Willian and Girik were joined extremely well to put Churchill’s defence into jeopardy. During the starting of the game Chencho nearly scored the goal in 8th minute when a Khosla made a cross which wasn’t managed, that gave Chencho a possibility to score which he couldn’t make it.
Akash Sangwan after minutes later got the chance to score from the left side, created a shot but went straight to the Keeper which blocked well. They got another one chance created at 16’ when William changed after a rebound from Girik’s shot that directly went into his feet. William had another shot during the injuries of first time however he couldn’t control his exertion and lost the chance.

The second half began with many counters created by Churchill Brothers who attempted their best to return second half however got unfortunate on numerous events. In the 49th moment Akash Sangwan’s pinpoint corner kick met Chencho header however his exertion went only wide of target. Churchill Brothers nearly scored in the 51st minute when Britto got a possibility from only 6 yards out yet his frail exertion came hit the manager.
In 54th minute Ceesay took long shots to net the ball yet Kiran was there to spare easily. Monday also had his chances in the 59th minute,but his shot not near to the goal.And the last opportunity that Churchill Brothers came in the 61st minute,Ceesay made a space inside the box to set himself and took the shot which went over to the crossbar. Punjab also created so many chances which would have doubled their score to 2-0 in 64th minute when Kassim played a strategy of one-two gameplay Chencho, he crossed the ball towards Sangwan who unmarked that went out for goal-kick.
Britto missed the chance during 65’ had a chance of the match so far when he ran one on one with the manager Kiran yet Punjab shot turned out rapidly to spare his side. In the another gameplay there was a mix play Chencho was brilliantly set up by William in 73’ yet he choose to cut inside and in doing as such he loses the ball.
Bali Gangandeep also had an opportunity to score for his team but he lost it during the last minute of game. Full time whistle goes on and concluded Punjab as the winner of Hero I-League.
