Bengaluru FC overcomed the Jamshedpur FC challenge as they beat them 0-2 in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar on Sunday. Miku and Sunil Chhteri shined as they scored for their team to be still at the top spot in the league table with one game remaining for both the teams.
Bengaluru would have taken the lead in ninth minute itself, when an through ball from Toni Dovale was collected by Miku who laid the ball for the skipper Sunil Chhetri . But Chhetri was not able to connect well with the ball as the ball went past him outside.
Three minutes later another real scoring chance came to Bengaluru FC but they were not able to grab it. Udanta Singh from the right flank crossed into the box and found Venezuelan man Miku whose undirected header couldn’t open the windows for the visitors.
After nine minutes of gameplay, Bengaluru FC broke the deadlock by Miku’s penalty. In 23rd minute after the long ball from Lenny Rodrigues, Miku went past the Jamshedpur stopper before the stopper stumbled the Venezuelan striker to gave the visitors penalty shot. Miku calmly gave a finish as he fooled Subrata Paul to go in the opposite direction to open the windows for Bengaluru FC.
Bengaluru FC could have double folded their lead in the 32nd minute when the scorer Miku gave an through ball to Udanta Singh, but the latter shot wide to keep the scoreline stagnant.
Two minutes later, Chhetri gave an 0-2 lead to the visiting team. Dimas Delgado took an corner kick in the 34th minute, Chhetri outstretched himself to take the header as he soared the ball into the net. The Indian Skipper doubled the lead for Bengaluru FC.
In 40th minute Izu Azuka took an low shot to the target. But Gurpreet Singh Sandhu denied any chance to score.
Both the team went off field after the end of first half with the scoreline at 0-2.
Home side dominated the early moments in second half, they came close to scoring in 47th minute of the game twice but where denied both the time valiantly by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. First he denied the shot from Andre Bikey and then from Jerry Mawihmingthanga.
In 56th minute, Anas Edathodika had to leave the ground due to knee injury. Anas Edathodika was on the ground for merely 11 minutes as he was inducted into team during half time break. Mehtab Hossain came in place of Anas Edathodika.
Albert Roca brought in Eric Paartalu and Boathing Haokip and took off Toni Dovale and Udanta Singh to add some man power to the team. Coppell brought in Kervens Belfort in place of Andre Bikey for Jamshedpur FC.
Izu Azuka had a chance during the hour mark as he found himself at the proper place but he couldn’t checkmate Gurpreet Singh Sandhu who stood tall for his team and denied every possible chances.
FC Bengaluru are now in the commanding position as they are now eight points clear to the second placed FC Pune City and third placed Chennaiyin FC. Jamshedpur FC are placed on fourth position and are one point clear to Kerala Blasters.
