FC Pune City suffered an humiliating defeat from FC Goa as they were thrashed 0-4 in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Sunday. Ferran Corominas, Manuel Lanzarote and Hugo Boumous scored for the Bulls. Ferran Corominas scored an brace for the visitors.

The game started on higher note as they both were racing for the playoffs berth. FC Pune nearly took an lead in 11th minute when the free kick taken by Marcelinho was taken by Sahil Pawar whose header nearly touched the woodwork but didn’t stirred the scoreline. In 19th minute the Bulls came close to scoring when an free kick from Manuel Lanzarote was just inches away from woodwork.

Corominas-Lanzarote were constantly checking for the vulnerability in Pune’s defence as they made some incessive runs and perfect passing.

In 27th minute Adil Khan’s challenge to Hugo Boumous proved to the turning point as Referee blowed the whistle and awarded the visiting team penalty shoot. Manuel Lanzarote kept his calm and held his nerve as he soared the ball into net to give the Gaurs lead before the half hour mark. Lanzarote scored the ninth goal of the season.

Few moments later, Marcelinho was booked for a protest with Referee as he fought for the free kick as he was pushed just outside the box by Sergio. But the Referee denied the claim and the game went on.

Pune’s custodian denied any further rampage as he saved an close range shot from Corominas who was early laid ball by Hugo Boumous.

Moments after the resumption Corominas and Boumous exchanged some quick work. Boumous came close to scoring as his shot hit the crossbar. In 47th minute again Boumous took an chance an fired an shot which bulged into net after it deflected from Vishal Kaith’s hands.

Popovic made two substitutions for the Stallions as he brought in Jonatan Lucca and Issac Vanmalsawma to replace Tebar and Jewel Raja respectively.

Just before the hour mark, Corominas ran down the flank played one-two with Boumous and the back heel from Boumous cleared the defence line as Corominas ran down the line, took his own time and powered in a shot as it went past Vishal Kaith as they scored for the third time in 58th minute.

The things went from bad to worse as the cross from Mandar Rao Desai was touched with hand by Pune defender Sarthak Golui. Corominas took the spot kick as he scored for the second time of the evening.

Ten minutes before the end of regulation time period Marcelinho was shown the second yellow card as he was sent off the game. Marcelinho and Diego Carlos would be missing the last game against Delhi Dynamos. FC Goa is still in hunt for the playoffs berth.
